probelsm setting up server

hey, i was trying to setup a server i downloaded the server patch, and went to the setup page and tried to do it, it told me to open c promopt and do all this stuff, and type all this stuff but then it ends it with :

5) Type "ventrilo_srv".

and then it said it will start the server? do i just copy the ip that says it opens these intefraces or somthing and join? if so i told some of my friends to join and they said they can't can someone help me?:S

If you can join then your server is working just fine.

You'll need to configure your network to allow your friends to connect. That is outside the scope of setting up Ventrilo. Look into configuring Port Forwarding in your router.
