I'm sure yall are tired of hearing the same old problems. I've been reading the forums for an hour and have found similar questions, but no solutions that worked for me. I am using my home computer as a server (small scale use). Here's some system information:
------------------
System Information
------------------
Time of this report: 6/17/2005, 14:42:04
Machine name: MITCHELL
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519)
System Manufacturer: NVIDIA
System Model: AWRDACPI
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz
Memory: 512MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
------------------
IP Configuration
------------------
Local IP Address: 192.168.1.100
External IP Address: 68.111.xxx.xx
------------------
Router
------------------
Linksys WRT54G
Open Ports:
Ventrilo 3784 to 3784 Both 192.168.1.100 Enabled
Ventrilo2 3784 to 3784 Both 192.168.1.101 Enabled
DMZ enabled for host ip addresss 192.168.1.100
------------------
Firewalls
------------------
Windows firewall disabled
3rd party firewall disabled (SystemSuite NetDefense by Sygate)
Whenever I first set the server up (and opened all the ports, etc. . . ) it worked just fine. I could connect perfectly and my friends could connect from their houses. But just two days ago whenever I started the server, they were unable to connect. I can still connect using my internal 192.168.1.1 ip address, but they were unable to connect using the external 68.111.xxx.xx address like they had been doing. I could still host ip games (Age of Empires II) and they could connect using the external 68.111.xxx.xx address. I did not mess with any ports.
I have a notion of what caused the problem though. I had been using the server for about a week, and during that week nobody else on my lan turned their computer on. Two days ago whenever I started the Ventrilo server up, one person on my lan had their computer on. Since then, nobody has been able to connect. I tried unhooking all of the cables from the router and putting them back, but that solved nothing.
If you know of a solution, I would greatly appreciate any input. I know there are many posts similar to this on the forums. I searched for over an hour and could not find a solution that worked (in that time, I disabled windows firewall and enabled DMZ for my computer which I did not have to do to get the server to work originally).
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mitch
Additionally, if you know of a post that answers my question, please send me the URL. I do not mean to be a pest, but I searched and searched and found nothing.
