I am wondering if I can setup some sort of multiple channel system with Ventrillo..??
Here is what I want to do..
Lets say we have two groups of 3 players. Team A and Team B.. I want to run Ventrilo server so that while in the game, I can press...
- one key to speak to Team A
- another key to speak to Team B
- and a third key to speak to both teams.
Is this possible with Ventrilo?
It would be so awesome if it was. We have 2 groups of 3 running around in World of Warcraft at the moment and it is so easy to miss a 'whisper'.
Thanks.

Yes,
Use the following channel config.
Group
Group/A
Group/B
Bind a key to send to A.
Bind a key to send to B.
Bind a key to send to Group but specify Channel and it's sub-channels.

mmm.. not as easy as I thought..
I have set up the following channel structure after accessing the 'admin' menu option and entering a password (that I had set in the ventrilo_svr.ini file)
Group
GroupA
GroupB
I then clicked on GroupA, selected Setup and entered 'F1' as the key for this channel.
After clicking OK I then seleted GroupB and repeated the process, but this time selecting 'F2' as the key.
After hitting OK again, returned to the GroupA setup. It now had F2 as its key.
No matter how many times I went back and forth one setup effected the other.
How do I set up the different key bindings for the different channels?
And while I am here, where do I specify "Channel and it's sub-channels." for the parent channel 'Group'?
Thanks again.

A and B should be sub-channels of Group.

They are.. Seems the forum removed the spaces I used to pad it out.
I think I have it sussed now. I found the Setup Bindings page. Do bindings set up in here, override those that you might put on an individual channel via setup (on a selected channel) ?
<edit>
Also, when I created the the sub channels I specified a password on each.
Now, when I create a new binding set to Group, Group/GroupA and Group/GroupB, I get the following error..
"Unable to authenticate the following PTT Advanced bind channel(s).
The specified channel might not exist or you have not yet joined
a password protected channel in order to assign the required password."
Group/GroupA (Bad or missing password)
Group/GroupB (Bad or missing password)
Any idea what the problem is here?
Thanks again. Hopefully I'll not need to post again with this problem. :-)

Ok. I got this last error sorted.. You need to join each channel, and enter the password when requested, before each binding works. Fortunatly for me, I only have 2 channels that I would be joining. GroupA or GroupB. This would be a real hassle if I had a binding set for lots of channels.
Seems that it would make sense to be able to put the password for each channel in when you create the binding. Perhaps this could be in some future version of Ventrilo?
This set up is working now, except for the binding to talk to all channels..
I setup a key to talk to the channel called 'Group' - "Channel and all its sub-channels". GroupA and GroupB are sub-channels of Group.. But this binding does not work. Is there some trick to this?
