My friends and I all play World of Warcraft and we wanted a program so we could talk with each other, so we decided to give Ventrilo a try. I happen to be the only one with cable internet, everyone else is on dial-up, so I got elected to host the server. I'm having trouble though getting other people to connect to me. I am using Windows XP pro using the free ZoneAlarm and not the windows firewall, and I am behind a Linksys WRT54G Wireless broadband router and I am hardwired. I downloaded the server files and I got it running but I am the only one who can connect to my server. I am new to networking and hosting servers etc. so I'm not sure what I am missing here. On the router, I set it to port forward 3784 and it still doesn't help. I tried turning off all of my firewalls and it did nothing. When i check port 3784 on Shields Up! (www.grc.com (http://www.grc.com)) it tells me that the port is stealth. From what it is telling me no one can even see port 3784 on my machine, but I don't know how to open it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am having the same problem. I am behind the WRT54G router too. I am the only one who can connect to the server, but I know the port forwarding is setup right. Are you running a web server on the same machine too? I thought that might be the problem, but if port forwarding is setup right there shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe try to set your PC as the DMZ on your router. See if that helps at all.

I would turn off all the software firewall applications you are running along with windows ones. Then I would direct you to www.whatismyip.com and make sure that is the IP you are giving to them and not your local 192.168.*.* address.
Make sure that you correctly forwarded port 3784 for tcp/udp and it's enabled. Once this is done, let us know if you are still having problems.
