I did exactly what the previous post mentioned. (Opening 3784 for both and such.) 192.168.1.100 didn't work, so I looked at what Ventrilo called me (192.168.1.103) and that did not let people connect either. Anyone on our LAN can connect to it just fine. Infact, the person I am testing it with connected yesterday, and went home today, and now he is connecting to my IP and it won't let him connect. What do I need to change and do? The error he gets is just 'Cannot connect to server.' I am having him connect to my IP which is 12.207.__.__ (Leaving the last open for security reasons. Posted it to show I am not just trying to have him connect to the Forwarding Port.) I don't know what else to do.

What type of Router do you have?

Make sure you do an ipconfig (Windows) ifconfig (Linux) to get your router assigned IP. 192.168.*.* Once you get that, forward the port via your router 3784 on that IP. Then proceed to www.whatismyip.com and give that IP to outside users to connect to your server.

Linksys. Not a wireless. And, for some reason when I run ipconfig my computer closes it right away.. *Frowns.*

Click start->run-> Type in: cmd (hit enter) Then type ipconfig (or ipconfig /all)

So yea. Here is the screenshots from my router Forwarding, as well as ipconfig. I did exactly what it shows to, and I have people connect to the IP that shows up, and yet, it still will not let me actually get out-of-LAN connections.. This is frustrating. :(

Would you mind sending me a PM with your IP?

can you connect to the server from another machine on your network? use 192.168.1.103 for the server ip. let's narrow down whether it's the router or the computer.

Client/Server are on the same machine, and yes, he can.

Well, I greatly appreciate the help from you both. In events that followed the next day I found out that for some reason the IP things kept telling me, was actually the IP of someone else on the LAN. Anyways, I went to my house (I LAN at a friends.) and set up a dedicated server for it. It works just fine now. So it turns out I wasn't doing anything wrong. Hah. Thanks guys!

Interesting followup because I did some more testing and that was the only possible thing I could find as a solution. You had to be forwarded the port for the wrong IP...lol. Glad things work!
