oh wow, hate to sound like an a-hole but your whole presense taken down because of a hard drive failure???!!!! One word - redundancy.

If these are not your servers but a host you purchase/lease dedicated hardware from I would start looking for someone else because an entire day to get you back up is unnecessary.

I had a similar problem back in January. My entire site was offline for almost 36 hours. But that was complicated by the fact that my datacenter decided to upgrade their trouble ticket system the same day the system crashed.

Yeah, me a Murphy are REAL good friends.

man, I am glad I am in control directly of my hardware at work. so if something goes bad I can only blame myself, and `knock on wood` nothing has been catastropic. Sure, a failure here and there but there is enough redundancy it wasn't noticed. =)

Trust me, we are not happy about the situation. The machine is now back online and we are restoring all the files.

DNS caching's a bitch, ain't it?

i really hate when isp's ignore your dns cache settings and just mess up switchover times...grrrrrr
